COMPANY BACKGROUND:
A global manufacturer and supplier of a range of semiconductors. At our site in Oldham, we have a Wafer Fab as well as offices which house departments such as Quality, Design, Sales, etc. 

 

MAIN PLACEMENT PURPOSE
This role would principally be using the academic skills that the candidate has acquired as an undergraduate to optimise how the Production processes, systems and organisation operate. The candidate will play a large part in how training within Manufacturing is structured, delivered, and assessed ensuring its effectiveness whilst considering the audit requirements. They will also be involved in delivering cost, quality and compliance-based project work.

 

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
•    Ensuring corporate compliance
•    Reviewing training documentation to supplement the engineering specifications
•    Ensuring effective communication methods
•    Reviewing the manufacturing internal training process 
•    Identifying problems and opportunity for continuous improvement activities

The applicant will be required to work with a variety of people across manufacturing, engineering and other departments. The candidate should be personable with good communication skills. 

A logical and systematic approach would also be beneficial in the successful completion of these tasks. The ability to develop and implement improvements in a structured and system-based approach within a continuous improvement model is key.
Training will be given on various products and systems. 

 

KEY COMPETENCIES: 
You will be computer literate (MS Office), be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal as you will be communicating with people at all levels within the business. Integration of the Power platform or the ability to code basic applications is desirable.

An appreciation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies is desirable.

You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter, innovative yet disciplined to work in a highly controlled environment. During the placement the successful candidate will be supported by experienced operations/engineering managers.

Good interpersonal skills are key – being able to communicate and work with others at all levels of the organisation is critical to the success of this placement.  You will be required to work with different people on a day-to-day basis and be diverse with the different approaches you take to each task.
Internal development and training will be offered as appropriate to support this process.
