COMPANY BACKGROUND:
A global manufacturer and supplier of a range of semiconductors. At our site in Oldham, we have a Wafer Fab as well as offices which house departments such as Quality, Design, Sales, etc. 


MAIN PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The primary will be to improve efficiency, productivity, and overall performance within the organisation by analysing and evaluating complex systems, identifying areas for improvement, and developing innovative solutions to enhance operations.

 

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
•    Using mathematical and scientific models to understand production methods
•    Review and creating reports and operating guidelines
•    Cycle Time Improvement / Tool performance and optimisation.
•    Developing manufacturing planning system
•    Creating and developing quality control systems to optimise production and reduce waste

The applicant will be required to use mathematical modelling, data analysis, and simulation techniques to analyse workflows, identify bottlenecks, and streamline processes. 

The applicant will be required to work with a variety of people across manufacturing, engineering and other departments and so should be personable with good communication skills. 

Applicants would also be required to undertake an initial period on the shopfloor shadowing Shift leaders to be able to experience and appreciate the human element of Manufacturing Management.

Training will be given on various products and systems. Whilst training and support will be provided, the student will be expected to show initiatives.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES: 
You will possess a strong analytical approach, knowledge of data cleaning and preparation, data analysis and exploration and statistical knowledge. Moreover, you’ll be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills both written and verbal as you will be communicating with people at all levels within the business.  

An appreciation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies is desirable.

You will need to be a highly motivated self-starter, innovative yet disciplined to work in a highly controlled environment. During the placement the successful candidate will be supported by experienced operations/engineering managers.

You will be required to work with different people on a day-to-day basis and be diverse with the different approaches you take to each task.
Internal development and training will be offered as appropriate to support this process.
