You will be required to support the Onshore Geographic Information systems (GIS) team, responsible for assisting the GIS function on all Onshore Renewables projects. Working with implemented standards and processes across the SPR Business for efficient management of spatial data to enable the business to develop and operate its windfarm assets effectively. The role will involve providing mapping services and undertaking geospatial analysis.

 

Discipline

 

Ideally candidates would be degree qualified in GIS or have equivalent demonstrable professional experience.

It would also be desirable for candidates to have experience of ArcGIS software related GIS. This role would be most suitable for someone currently studying GIS or a graduate.

 

Activities and Responsibilities

 

•             Maintain the spatial data management system for onshore development, assisting in maintaining and   updating spatial data and metadata.

•             Utilise GIS for geospatial data creation and management

•             Provision of controlled high quality drafting/cartographic services to support all areas of the business as well as external stakeholders.

•             The translation of various datasets and manipulation of intricate data.

•             Maintenance and updates of GIS databases.

•             Sharing/transmission of data with key stakeholders, partners and consultants.

•             Liaising with both internal and external clients to understand their requirements and support in the production of detailed work to strict deadlines.

•             Contribute to the development of specialist knowledge and practice within the business.

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge

 

  • A recognised degree in GIS or equivalent demonstrable professional experience.
  • Knowledge of GIS, ideally the ArcGIS desktop suite.
  • Digital cartographic and map production skills
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS extensions including Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst.
  • Experience of database manipulation software
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of GPS data capture and ArcGIS Field Maps.
  • Knowledge in successful spatial data management, analysis and presentation
  • Desirable to be proficient in the utilisation of all the commonly utilised IT packages (Microsoft Suite of programmes: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access).

  • Self-motivated, proactive and innovative attitude
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to translate requirements into working solutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
