You will be required to support the Project Services team in the ScottishPower Renewables business within the Programme Office. The Programme Office is a newly established department within Project Services and throughout this year will establish various functions including Programme Planning, Document Control, Governance, Processes and Procedures, Reporting and Risk Management areas.

 

This Trainee Document Controller role is an exciting, challenging role and provides an opportunity for a driven individual. You will help create the foundations for the newly created SPR Onshore Programme Office and help define and improve their systems and processes for future success.

 

Discipline

 

Pre-university or undergraduate planning to study/currently studying for a degree related to engineering, business or project management, or graduate who has obtained the relevant degree.

 

Activities and Responsibilities

 

  • Supporting in the defining and documenting of the key project management processes – Risk Management, Financial Management, Project Planning, Project Review Board, Escalation, Change Control. This includes the defining and mapping of the processes and creating all associated documentation for the Integrated Management System.
  • Assisting in the roll out of the Document Management project, including standardisation. Facilitating sessions, documenting the outputs, creating / managing surveys, creating the guidelines, assisting in the migration plan and phasing.
  • Supporting where required in the roll-out of the stage gate process, including associated documentation.
  • Assisting in the development and roll out of a communication plan which will provide information to the Onshore community on what Project Services’ strategy, objectives and plans are and providing regular updates on the progress.
  • Developing Sharepoint capability within Project Services and adopting it for use where applicable.
  • Developing Power BI capability within Project Services and adopting it for use where applicable.
  • Short term support with programme planning updates. Implementing the drumbeat of updates and Project Directors Report submissions monthly.

 

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge

 

  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams at the same time.
  • High literacy and numeracy skills, capable of working effectively in a data rich environment
  • Graduate or University Student in a relevant degree subject – engineering, business, project management.

 

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong communication skills given requirement to interface with a broad range of SPR Onshore staff and many of its stakeholders.
  • Passionate about working in the Renewables industry.
  • Strong analytical, time management and problem solving skills.
  •  Experience working with MS Office including excel, PowerPoint and word. Use of PowerBi desirable.
  • Good standard of written English.
  • Team player and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with excellent attention to detail.
