Business

 

Global Energy Management acts in the energy markets on behalf of Scottish Power’s Retail and Renewables businesses. We buy energy for our customers and sell the production of our renewable assets. Our activities include energy trading and procurement, hedging, forecasting demand, portfolio optimisation, and analysis of commodity markets.

 

Role

 

The Portfolio Optimisation team are responsible for adding value and managing risk. This includes developing trading strategies, customer demand forecasting, data analysis and quantitative modelling. We work closely with Trading, IT, Retail and Renewables. In this role you will:

 

  • Play a part in managing, upgrading and replacing our customer demand forecasting solutions. Aims: increase accuracy, streamline processes, improve data, cope with major changes in the nature of demand and, ultimately, provide cheaper and greener energy to our customers.
  • Carry out ad-hoc analysis for team members
  • Contribute to the general activities of the team

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge

  • Highly numerate and strong data and analysis skills
  • Have / on track for a 1 or 2:1 degree in statistics, maths or similar
  • Knowledge of forecasting and / or the energy sector
  • Strong in Excel, VBA, and SQL
  • Fast learner, good at working with others and self-managing
