Ocean & Earth Science at University of Southampton
What’s it all about and what will I be doing?
Explore the different processes that drive the global Earth system! Combine geology, geography and oceanography, and develop a wide rangeof practical and transferable skills.
Students will:
- Gain experience investigating coastal marine environments, including physicalprocesses such as tides and the ecosystems they support.
- Develop an understanding of environmental geoscience,including human interactions with marine and coastal systems and the impacts ofclimate change.
- Spend time on board our teaching and research vesselCallista in Southampton Water and the Solent.
The course will be run from the University of Southampton at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS) - one of the world's largest research and training centres, - with meals at the centre and accommodation close by within walking distance.
Would this course suit me?
This course is designed for Year 11 and Year 12 students. You must have a strong interest in Ocean and Earth Sciences. You must be studying/going to study for at least 2 of the following A levels (or equivalent) - Maths, Biology, Physics, Geography, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Geology.
Who will be on this course?
This is a mixed course for 30 students.
