Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 Skills Fund will inspire young people from Norwich into STEM

Thanks to a two-year grant from Ørsted’s Hornsea 3Skills Fund, 180 young people aged 12-14 in Norwich will take part in hands-on skills building activities and learn about careers in the sustainable energy sector.
Launching in Autumn 2025, the project will start with Industrial Cadets Challenger Experience sessions to develop young people’s skills and build their confidence in engaging with STEM topics.
100 students will go on to take a deeper dive into the world of STEM, working in teams to complete a sustainability-themed challenge with the support of an industry mentor, culminating in the achievement of an Industrial Cadets Bronze award.
Julie Feest, CEO at EDT said: “EDT’s Industrial Cadets programmes are a fantastic way to excite young people about STEM subjects and the opportunities offered by careers in the sector. They also help students prepare for the world of work by developing skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience. We’re really grateful to Ørsted for making these opportunities available to young people in Norwich through their Hornsea 3 Skills Fund.”
Imran Nawaz, Senior Advisor &Community Benefit Fund Manager at Ørsted, said: “Our aim is to leave a lasting positive legacy in the areas in which we work and what better way to do that than through building young people’s skills and confidence. We’re pleased to support such an important and valuable programme.”
