Industrial Cadets Platinum Award Finalists to attend Enginuity Skills Awards 2026

We are delighted to announce that three exceptional Industrial Cadets Platinum Award finalists have been chosen! To celebrate their hard work, the finalists have been invited to attend the Enginuity Skills Awards 2026.

Held on 1 July at London's Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, the Enginuity Skills Awards celebrate the people, employers and organisations shaping the future of UK engineering and manufacturing. As a long-standing partner, EDT is proud to see three talented young people recognised for the impact they have made during their industry placements and the contribution they are already making to the STEM workforce.

Our finalists are:

Raed “Ted” Mohammed – EDT Placement at Watlow Eurotherm

Ratan Jannu – EDT Placement at Haleon

Rachel Kovacs – EDT Placement at GSK

Being shortlisted for the Industrial Cadets Platinum Award is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, innovation and professionalism each finalist has shown throughout their placement. Their individual experiences from their placements at Watlow Eurotherm, Haleon and GSK can be found below.

Raed “Ted” Mohammed

"I am an Embedded Software Intern at Watlow Eurotherm where my original twelve-month placement was extended and continues today, more than nineteen months later. Alongside my embedded software work I have sought and taken on broader responsibilities in interface design and technical writing. I have also volunteered for both the EY Foundation and EDT both virtually and in-person. A particular highlight has when a talk I gave at a secondary school in London as a STEM Ambassador resulted in three of the attendees expressing interest in and later being confirmed for future work experience at the company, despite the relatively long commute."

Ratan Jannu

“My Industrial Cadets Platinum experience gave me the confidence to step beyond what I thought I was capable of as a placement student. I was trusted with projects that influenced decision-making across global teams, using data and AI to improve manufacturing risk and financial performance. The experience strengthened my technical, analytical and communication skills, and being retained immediately into a full-time role as a Business Data Analyst was the biggest highlight of the value I was able to deliver. It’s been a defining step in my journey into data and technology.”

Rachel Kovacs

“GSK taught me that the best solutions don't just solve problems, they help people. My placement gave me skills in data analytics and app development, and the confidence to walk into a room of senior leaders with an idea worth backing. The highlight was designing a learning platform that transformed how newcomers learn complex manufacturing - proving that creative initiatives can deliver real impact and inspiring me to build a career driven by innovation.”

Rachel Kovacs

Everyone at EDT wishes all three finalists the very best of luck at the Enginuity Skills Awards. We look forward to celebrating their achievements alongside the wider engineering and manufacturing community and recognising the incredible young talent helping to shape the future of STEM.
