ScottishPower Invests in the Next Generation
ScottishPower and EDT work in partnership to support students entering work through the Year in Industry programme (YINI). Based nationally throughout ScottishPower’s UK operations, the programme offers recent school leavers, undergraduates, and recent graduates a chance to contribute to critical projects in the energy sector.
The energy industry is at the heart of the UK’s net-zero agenda and ScottishPower are committed to nurturing future talent for the innovations and solutions required to reach this goal. The programme allows students the opportunity to gain knowledge, insight and experience post education, providing hands-on learning and development that equips students with skills and real-world experience beyond theory.
The partnership enables ScottishPower to gain access to dedicated, highly prepared students who demonstrate strong commitment and drive for professional growth. The collaboration also plays a pivotal role in advancing Diversity and Inclusion objectives for ScottishPower by engaging a broad pool of students from diverse nationalities.
Impact
- 387 students supported over the 6 year partnership
- Over 180% growth in student recruitment over 4 years
- 38% of recruits from non-British backgrounds, reinforcing inclusivity commitment
