Inspiring the Next Generation with Leonardo

EDT and Leonardo are proud to mark 20 years of successful partnership, built on a shared commitment to inspire the next generation of STEM talent. Since 2005, EDT and Leonardo have worked together offering Industrial Cadet opportunities at Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum level as well as welcoming students on Industrial Placements.

Partnering with us across the UK, Leonardo provides work experience at their Yeovil, Basildon, Southampton and Edinburgh sites that allow students to discover a real world STEM environment while taking part in hands on industry experiences focused on aerospace, design and engineering.

The company also supports our Bronze and Gold mentored projects which allow students to collaborate in small groups on a real-life project created by Leonardo. Guided by a company mentor, students develop essential work-readiness skills while developing a deeper understanding of STEM careers and opportunities available.

Leonardo employees have played a vital role in mentoring students for over twenty years, supporting them through placements that range from three months to year-long opportunities. These experiences provide placement students with insight into the engineering and technology sectors, helping them to build skills, confidence, and career aspirations.

Through a diverse range of collaborative projects, student placements, and immersive experiences, this partnership has created invaluable opportunities for thousands of young people across the UK.

Impact

  • Over 370 teams of students engaged through projects
  • 1,500+ students supported through Industrial Cadets Bronze and Gold programmes
