What Is Term Time Routes?

The course is designed to be delivered during term time, at a point in the curriculum to suit the school. The three day course duration can be delivered on consecutive days, or on separate days over three or four weeks to ease impact on the timetable. Students completing the course will receive an Industrial Cadets bronze award, while the teacher(s) accompanying the students may have the opportunity of being awarded a CPD mentoring qualification. 

 

Course Cost

  • The subsidised course fee for a class of 30 is £3,300 (equivalent of £37 per student per day).

  • *Optional* EAL mentoring qualification costs £99 per teacher

What EDT Will Provide

  • Engage 3 high quality local delivery partners; 1 College, 1 University & 1 Company

  • Guide delivery partners in shaping their programmes to ensure expected outcomes

  • Provide full administrative support & liaison before, during and after delivery of the course

  • Produce an end of course report providing data driven evidence of the impact of Routes into STEM on pupils in attendance

  • Provide  DBS cleared facilitator(s) to kick off and close the course

  • Industrial Cadets bronze accreditations to all students who attend the full course

  • EAL mentoring accreditation of three day experience for teachers accompanying students

  • Supply all course materials including;

       - career development workbooks to support pupils’ learning

       - all materials related to the delivery of STEM based activities 

 

What Will You Need To Provide? 

  • 30* students (of any academic achievement) who will be best impacted by Routes into STEM

  • Transportation to & from each venue for students

  • 1-2 teachers to accompany students

  • Liaison with parents

 

Course Impact

Our first Routes course was delivered in 2014, since then we have had the following achievements:

  • 890 students engaged 

  • 41% female participation

  • 30% BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic)

  • 94% of students post course say that they are highly likely or will definitely pursue STEM subjects in the future

  • 99% of parents felt that Routes has helped their children

  • 96% of students would recommend this course to their peers
