Routes into STEM

Gain first hand experience of life at college, university and within a company... 

Routes into STEM is an innovative 3 day course that provides young people in Year 9/10 or S2/S3 (Scottish equivalent) & teachers an amazing chance to compare college, university and apprenticeship pathways into STE(A)M Careers.

Routes into STEM is accredited at Industrial Cadets Bronze level.

Students will  gain first-hand experience of life at college, university and within a company, spending 1 day at each.

They will have the opportunity to

  • do hands on exciting STE(A)M Activities which will showcase the kind of things they can do at college and university if they continue to study STEM Subjects.

  • speak with and feel inspired by the apprentices & graduates about their experiences .

  • find out the latest information on all of the different routes available to them if they decide to continue studying STE(A)M.

  • go on campus tours, learn about student life and get thinking about their future studies in a mature and informed manner.

  • learn valuable skills such as presentation skills, team-building skills, social skills.

  • learn about all of the routes available to them after they have finished their GCSE’s including Degree Apprenticeships.

What will be involved?
Who is it for?

Students will receive a useful handbook on their first day of the course which includes real-life case studies of students and the routes they have chosen, as well as interactive activities to help them identify their areas of interest and strengths, plus tips for CV writing and links and resources to point them in the direction of further information.
