Start Date: August 2024 for 12 months.

 

Role Purpose:
The role supports the Fleet and Engineering team  in ensuring the delivery of safe, clean, and reliable trains to our valued customers.

 

The successful candidate would gain:
The chosen candidate will have the chance to gain hands-on experience in Data Analysis, Engineering, Projects, Fleet Delivery, and Commercial facets within the Fleet and Engineering team. They will undertake various tasks or projects across these areas, fostering a comprehensive understanding of our operations.

This role offers exposure to a variety of disciplines and provides a unique opportunity to work within a small team, fostering skill development tailored to individual preferences. Whether your interests lie in engineering, computing, or project management, there is something for everyone in this role, and the placement’s focus will be adjusted to align with your career aspirations.

The role encompasses a diverse range of projects, allowing for growth in areas such as:

- SQL Databases
- Excel Data Processing
- VBA Macro Programming
- PowerBI
- Other job-specific software tools

 

Additionally, while predominantly based at our Birmingham City Centre offices, there will be opportunities for travel to the trainset maintenance facilities operated by our Train Service Providers, Alstom and Hitachi.

Key Competencies:
We are looking for a student who has:
•    Strong A level (or equivalent) grades in STEM subjects and is pursuing or planning to pursue a STEM degree (Science, Technology/ ICT, Engineering, or Mathematics).
•    Proficiency in basic computer packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
•    An understanding of general railway systems and terminology.
