Excellent opportunity to join one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a world leader in wind energy. They are the first integrated energy company in the UK to generate 100% green electricity. The company are seeking a bright enthusiastic finance student to work as part of a team in their Energy Wholesale Margins division. The placement is for one full year, starting in September 2020 and open to school leavers and undergraduates
Assist the Controls and Settlements teams in their daily tasks, including validating the 7 figure exchange margin call and ensuring the company's trading position is correctly reported to National Grid.
Assist the Margins Accounting team in performing month-end closing activities, plus budgeting and forecasting exercises. Ad hoc duties to assist other members of the team.
Activities and Responsibilities
The majority of processes rely on complex Excel spreadsheets, designed to automate as much as possible. Basic Excel understanding will be a benefit. The successful applicant will then significantly increase their Excel skill base throughout their time with the company. They will also share responsibility with the rest of their team for ensuring the accuracy of the trading system database, which records the company's commodity trading in the UK market.
There will also be opportunities to get involved in other accounting tasks, including month-end and budgets and forecasts, providing good exposure to the various aspects of a financial role.
