The placement is with a semiconductor manufacturing organisation and will start in September 2020 for 1 full year This role would principally be using the academic skills the candidate has acquired as an undergraduate to optimise how we characterise our new products and processes at a wafer and package level. The candidate would be involved in a project which aims to optimise processes within the wafer fab using Design Of Experiments and how these can influence the performance of the devices.
- To optimise an existing wafer fabrication process using DOE with a view to measuring the impact on process capability, product performance and yield.
- Training on basic wafer fab principles to facilitate the DOE.
- Training on characterisation equipment including DC, Cj, and high current capability.
- Analysis, interpretation and reporting of the results of the DOE.
The applicant will be required to work with a variety of people across manufacturing, engineering and other departments and so should be personable with good communication skills.
Applicants would undertake an initial period of training in areas within manufacturing/engineering departments. This will benefit the applicant with a better understanding of the manufacturing process and systems in place.
A logical and systematic approach would be beneficial in the successful completion of these tasks. The ability to develop and implement improvements in a structured and system-based approach within a continuous improvement model is key.
Training will be given on various products and systems. Whilst training and support will be provided, the student will be expected to show initiative.
