Working hours/holiday: Monday – Thursday 08:30 to 17:30. Friday 08:30 to 13:00

 

MAIN PLACEMENT PURPOSE:

Offering STEM students, the opportunity to work on live projects in the development of new product ranges being introduced into the Armfield portfolio. The roles are salaried.

 

Role profile:

2x Summer placement role undertaking testing and verification of new development products. Involvement in content and verification of equipment manuals. Involvement in prototyping aspects of new products.

The roles as summer placement students will be within the Engineering team. The roles will allow students to understand the functions within Engineering but also companywide. The students will take part in live projects and contribute to these projects. The roles will include elements of physical testing and verification of equipment manufactured by Armfield as part of the development of new products. Also, the skill set of the students will be used to input into the writing of teaching elements within manuals for new products. The students will feedback into the development programmes any thoughts and ideas that they feel could help with improving the new products from a “user” perspective or as a result of anomalies that may be highlighted with the designs where the theory and practice are at odds.

The projects will range across chemical and mechanical engineering products and may appeal to students with interests or on an undergraduate programme in these fields but also practical physicists would also be considered.

 

Essential skills:

  • Knowledge of either chemical engineering/mechanical engineering/physics.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and self-starter on given tasks.

 

Desirable skills:

  • Good report writing.

 

Student type:

  • Discipline/degree: Chemical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Physics.
  • Undergraduate preferred but would consider post A-level with strong physics understanding.
