•    Role Description

The position is an R&D role and will be based at the European Technology Centre at Lathom. You will join the Float & Rolled Glass technology group, where you will primarily work with refractory specialists on projects and technical support activities related to the materials we use to build float furnaces. This could involve support to new material evaluation and post mortems of used material as well as preparation of quality control and fault samples for analysis. You will carry out microscopy and collate other analytical data to assist assessment of materials.
•    Key Competencies

We are looking for a talented student who is planning to study a Materials Science or related degree at University and expects to achieve a minimum of three A levels at grade 5 or 6 including maths, English and a physical science. You should be enthusiastic, self motivated and with a desire to make a difference. Someone who enjoys hands on physical work as well as information analysis is preferred. Full training in the techniques required will be provided. The site is not served by public transport, so a means of transport is essential.
