DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated and passionate about understanding customer problem statements, proactively supporting the delivery of high-quality solutions on time. This role is suitable for individuals who are keen to learn different applications, products, and their design. This role brings an opportunity for selected candidate to interact with technical colleagues of multiple domains, offer managers and sales colleagues, understanding different applications and collaborate with different functions involved in delivering an offer.

 

They are offering an exciting opportunity to join their World class Research and Development team and specifically the product validation team responsible for testing, verification, and validation of embedded industrial devices to solve Customer problems. Are you a driven and motivated engineer, looking for new challenges and opportunities, and to work with both local and remotely based engineers? Then this could be for you.

 

  • Follow test strategy and plans for a product and provide evidence of test coverage.
  • Work with our marketing, sales and development team to refine acceptance criteria.
  • Support production and execution of load and stress tests of applications and APIs.
  • Support the design and development of test rigs to support continuous integration testing.
  • Support the design and execution of system level end-to-end automated functional tests.
  • Perform and document exploratory tests of new features.
  • Write and execute manual test specifications for features which cannot be covered by automated tests.
  • Support the creation and running of automated tests for REST APIs and web pages.
  • Track testing progress and report on status and test coverage.
  • From the perspective of an end user, evaluate and make suggestions for improvements for the usability and testability of the system under test.
  • Work in an Agile environment, bringing your expertise to the various Agile ceremonies.

 

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Be planning to study a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Controls and Instrumentation or equivalent.
  • Understand the basics of Real Time Operating Systems, such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks 7+.
  • Overview knowledge of Software Development Processes – Requirements Analysis, Design Methods, Unit/Integration/Feature Testing.
  • Knowledge of process management principles & methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile).
  • Skills: Teamwork attitude, critical thinking, technical analysis, problem solving, presentation of proposals and results.
  • Self-motivation to learn (demonstrated via topics learnt outside of curriculum or normally assigned work).
  • Genuine interest in industrial automation embedded software and applications.

 

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES (Desirable, but not essential):

  • Any kind of experience in similar industrial field.
  • Experience in writing and implementing tests defined in a BDD style using the Gherkin syntax.
  • Object oriented programming concepts and development in scripting languages e.g. Python or similar.
  • Any experience of browser-based automated testing with Selenium WebDriver/similar framework.
  • Any experience of API testing with postman/soapUI.
  • An understanding of DevOps workflows with any experience in use of Git SCM, Jenkins, puppet/chef, containerization (docker).
  • An understanding of full stack web technologies and responsive web design.
  • Knowledge of NI LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • An understanding of different approaches to testing like black-box testing, functional testing, performance testing, load testing, cybersecurity testing, continuous integration testing etc.
