The Role

The company is recruiting for an exciting new role as an in-house graphic designer to work on a variety of multi-channel projects, which are central to telling the company story and promoting the brand as a leading, sustainable energy company.  The role will sit in the Brand & Marketing team and will work closely with colleagues from across wider Corporate Affairs including Digital, Internal Communication, and Government Affairs on both internal and external projects. About you

The placement is open to recent graduates and undergraduates in their final year of a qualification/degree in graphic design or related equivalent who excels at collaboration and has both the personal and technical skills to work within a high energy environment.

The role is based in Glasgow with a mix of home and office-based working.

 

What you’ll be doing

The company works with a variety of external creative agencies, but this role has been created to provide in-house design services to support a variety of internal and external projects.

Working within brand guidelines, you will support key areas of the Corporate Affairs team including Brand & Marketing, Digital and Internal Communications to deliver a wide scope of design projects and materials ranging from print, digital, social and, ideally motion/animation.

From time to time, you will also collaborate with other internal design teams, external agencies, and partners to support the delivery of wider communication projects. You will be required to design for and work with our internal communications platforms to provide regular updates to staff across the UK, e.g. Mailer Tool, Event Booking Tool, Mobile apps.

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge

They are looking for individuals who excel at Graphic Design and who hold a portfolio in design/production that demonstrates a core range of creative marketing and design skills.  Ideally you will possess the following:

  • A degree or qualification in graphic design or related discipline
  • Good standard of written English and copywriting for design projects
  • Fluent in MS Office - Word, PowerPoint, Excel Plus, Teams
  • Fluent in Adobe suite applications including: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with brand guidelines and applying them for brand consistency
  • Strong, traditional design background which you will be comfortable applying to any project or channel - online and offline design, print/collateral and simple gifs/animations.
  • Knowledge and experience of simple animation techniques and premier/video editing
  • Aware of the latest design trends and how to apply them within a commercial environment
  • Confident understanding of social media platforms and differences between them

  • A creative individual who can interrogate a brief and deliver creative solutions
  • Able to deliver to deadlines within a fast-paced environment, often balancing multiple initiatives and stakeholders at any point in time.
  • Good communicator
  • Willingness to learn
  • Basic awareness or experience of business practices
  • Excellent time-management and organisation skills
  • Autonomous, although guidance will be there, you should be confident in your ability to get on with projects unaided.
