The company is one of the leading Energy Network brands that operates across the UK working on the transportation, distribution of newer energy management systems to supply gas and electricity to its customers.

 

Discipline

 

Pre-university or undergraduate planning to study/currently studying for a degree related to Economics. This can include maths, science, PPE, Engineering or an arts degree if some technical skills.

 

Activities and Responsibilities

 

Supporting the Heads of Regulatory and Public Policy in the Corporate Affairs team on economic and policy analysis.

 

a) Modelling economic impacts of policy options

 

  • Helping develop spreadsheet models to analyse and evaluate policy options in areas such as EVs, Net Zero and retail energy markets.

 

b) Managing and tracking industry/regulator/government consultations

 

  • Summaries of incoming consultation documents and policy papers generated by the wider energy industry (for example think tanks and NGOs, international institutions such as the International Energy Authority, UK and Scottish governments, UK Committee on Climate Change) to circulate to internal stakeholders.
  • Helping to arrange meetings with key internal stakeholders to discuss the company’s response.
  • Ad-hoc desk research in support of the company’s response.
  • Attending webinars on consultations and providing summaries to circulate.
  • Assisting with producing draft responses.

 

c) Other support for regulatory and policy

 

  • Helping prepare PowerPoint presentations for external meetings
  • Ad hoc research and analysis in support of position papers etc

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge

 

  • MS Office - In particular Teams, Excel, Word & Powerpoint
  • Analytical skills e.g. spreadsheets
  • Good standard of written English

 

Interpersonal Skills

 

  • Collaboration required with other teams in the business
