The role

They are recruiting for an exciting role in the Digital Communications team, which utilises online platforms to promote the company’s crucial role in delivering decarbonisation at pace.

 

The digital communications team is growing and as they roll out a new digital strategy, it’s a brilliant opportunity to gain experience of working at a leading brand, while building your skills in digital communications. Working closely with colleagues from across Corporate Affairs, including the wider Media team, Brand and Marketing, Internal Communications, and Government Affairs, it’s a creative, challenging, and exciting place to be.

 

About you

The placement is open to recent graduates and undergraduates, ideally, you’ll have studied digital communications, media, marketing, or journalism. 

 

They are looking for someone with a keen interest in using digital communications to help tell the story to reinforce the £12bn investment in the UK to show the thousands of jobs being created and the low carbon energy system. You might have some knowledge or experience in social media, through modules studied at university or practical experience, such as volunteering or creating content for your own channels.

 

The role is based in Glasgow with a mix of home and office-based working and will involve regular attendance to attend filming and events to help gather content for our channels. 

 

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Help bring to life communications and brand activity through supporting content creation across digital channels (social media and website), by helping produce videos, graphics, social media copy, blogs and website updates
  • Support the digital team by booking filming and locations, liaising with different teams, briefing our studio, providing feedback, scheduling social media posts and making timely website updates.
  • Monitor social media channels to flag high profile interactions, escalate issues and identify opportunities for digital storytelling
  • Supporting with regular analysis of our channels through helping to prepare monthly reports

 

Skills/Knowledge that would be useful in this role

They are looking for someone with a keen interest in digital communications and a willingness to learn. Training will be provided as required and there will be opportunities to upskill and gain experience across the wider communications and marketing mix.

 

Useful skills for this role include:

  • Proficient in Microsoft package, including confident using excel and the ability to create attractive PowerPoint presentations
  • Any experience of editing software (e.g. Canva, Adobe suite, Instagram) is beneficial
  • Confident understanding of social media platforms and differences between them
  • Any experience in content creation is a bonus e.g. video editing, basic graphic design or photoshop skills, copywriting for social media, blogs and website.
