Disciplines – Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Process & Project Engineering

 

The company are seeking an undergraduate or an HND student for 1 full year. The placement will be at the The Dunbar Energy Recovery Facility (ERF). The facility is integral to the Scottish Government’s ambitions to deliver a zero waste, circular economy which encourages waste reduction, boost recycling an recovers vital low carbon energy from what remains. In tandem with our investment in a Scottish £125m network of recycling-led infrastructure, the ERF will divert about 300,000 tonnes of post-recycling ‘residual waste’ from landfill and contribute to Scottish energy security.  The site will generate 258GWh of base-load renewable energy direct to the National Grid – the equivalent of 39 wind turbines – enough to continuously power 70,656 homes. What’s more the plant will offer up to 10MW of heat available for local use.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • To provide support to, and work along-side, the various Engineering Teams within Dunbar ERF.
  • To gain an understanding of the importance of how an effective maintenance management strategy is in maintaining the availability of the plant.
  • Gain an understanding of the Holistech Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in use at Dunbar ERF and work along-site the Engineers to input data and make improvements to the system.
  • To gain a detailed understanding of the various Engineering Systems and Processes at Dunbar ERF

 

Activities and Responsibilities

  • Helping to update and maintain the CMMS database for Dunbar ERF and assist the discipline engineers in undertaking any equipment surveys required before submitting information onto the CMMS.
  • Support the maintenance planning process by ensuring tasks are effectively scoped, coordinated and communicated.
  • Assisting the discipline engineers in the development of an overall maintenance strategy for the systems / equipment installed at Dunbar ERF and liaising with the Central Engineering Team.
  • Project planning / monitoring / reporting for all Projects that they are involved with.
  • Providing feedback to the Engineering Manager / Discipline Engineers on the progression of all tasks / projects

  • Good IT / Microsoft Office skills e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to work on their own and use their own initiative
  • Aged 18 or above, due to site construction.

 

Experience

It would be beneficial for the student to have been exposed to an engineering environment previously.

Full driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
