The placement is with a small and growing company based in Wiltshire with a growing
national and international reputation centre for developing novel and exciting processes and systems that support military and security clients.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
We are seeking a 10 – 12 month placement student looking to gain practical experience in acommercial organisation as part of a placement year. Throughout this placement, you will be working on a variety of projects both internally and with our customers in the defence and security sector which may be desktop based, on military exercise (here in the UK or abroad) or in VR. These projects will provide you real world experience and personal development that you can take forward to your studies and career. If you are passionate about data and technology and pushing the boundaries of what it can achieve and want to gain experience in applying it to real life problems, then we want to hear from you.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications: You will be studying for a technology/computing/mathematics qualification
 
Essential skills and competencies:
• Outgoing and comfortable with working in a changing environment
• Keen to travel and at times conduct project work in austere environments
• Good analytical skills and a keen interest in technology
• An understanding of IT solutions
• Ability to apply technology creatively
• A logical approach to problem solving
• Ability to deliver projects within agreed timescalesDesirable skills & competencies
• Knowledge of development of machine learning approaches
• Programming skills (Python, SQL, JavaScript)
• Confidence to work independently, using your initiative• Comfortable working in outside environments (such as on military exercises)
• Full, UK driving licence is desirable
 
Location: Our office is located in Porton Down and whilst we encourage working from home, you may be required to work from the office regularly depending on project requirements at the time

Applicants must be eligible for SC Clearance
You may occasionally be required to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays in the UK /abroad in accordance with the company requirements.
