EDT would like to thank the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 for funding the development and pilot of a new Industrial Cadets Silver-Level experience: “Fast-Track to Industry."
This pioneering new project was designed to enable young people to keep building on the skills and knowledge they need to make the most of their post -16 experiences, and continue making confident choices for the future.
The course enabled 30 young people from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds to explore different routes into STEM, including University, Graduate and Apprenticeship pathways.
Four exciting days were hosted by the University of Westminster, Imperial College London, Bechtel Energy and HOCHTIEF-MURPHY Joint Venture (HMJV). Participants took part in hands on activities to explore STEM careers and learned about the career opportunities available by studying STEM, setting them up to make well informed decisions when choosing their next steps in life.
Post-course, 86% of young people felt more confident that they were on-track to achieve their career and study goals: a massive increase from 40% pre-course.
Thank you to the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 for making this life-changing experience possible for young people.
