Marketing update

The Marketing and Communications team is a central department and is made up of 2 people - Reena and Sahar.

We work with SMT, programme teams, partnership and fundraising managers and generate broader communications to raise the profile of EDT and Industrial Cadets, drive key messaging tailored to our varied target audiences and ensure that marketing efforts are centralised and consistent to benefit the charity’s vision, it’s targets and provide support to business development.

EDT’s vision is a society where young people across the UK have equal access to engage with STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering (Arts) and Maths) activities and achieve their potential in STEM careers and opportunities for further study.

Our focus is also on highlighting the individual’s journey; young person, teacher, employer - with the related benefits, impact and success stories/figures.

We also serve as a support function to EDT to ensure the programmes achieve their objectives.

We also are working towards improving internal marketing and comms to ensure that all staff are equipped with key messaging overall and feel more connected to one another across regions.  The internal newsletter (The Huddle) is an example of that.

We also organise the annual Industrial Cadets Awards which includes liaising with QA, managing the nominations and judging process as well dealing with the marketing and logistics on the lead up to and during the event.

We use various channels/tools to promote the charity including

  • Digital

    • Email marketing campaigns

    • Website  (ETrust and Industrial Cadets)

    • Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In)

  • Offline

    • PR – press releases, news articles

    • Designing and printing marketing collateral, event specific, programme specific

    • Other goods like banner stands etc

    • Advertising in ad hoc magazines, planners, annuals,

As we are a marketing department of only 2, we rely heavily on all our staff being marketeers.

You can help us

  • to promote and deliver key messaging through the various general collateral we have created

  • by sharing the website and social media links

  • by sending us impact statistics and good news stories (via MS teams or so that we can spread the information to a wider audience and use within our impact report.

  • By notifying us with updates to programme information so that the website remains current and up to date

  • By providing us with CRM data lists for targeted email campaigns

  • By suggesting any ideas or improvements

All EDT programme teams have an open door to consult with us on creating or supporting focused marketing paid/unpaid campaigns, event planning and ideas, business development opportunities, training requirements, funding bids, policing the branding and messaging etc.  If you would ever like to set up time to talk to us in detail about anything, please email
