ROUTES INTO STEM (FACE TO FACE) EXPERIENCE

This is an innovative three-day local (non-residential) experience that provides young people in Year 9 and Year 10/S3 and S4 an amazing chance to compare college, university and apprenticeship pathways into STEM careers. Students will gain first-hand experience of life at STEM educational providers and companies, spending one day at each.

Who is it for?

Year 9 and 10 / S3 and S4 equivalent students within one hour travel distance of locations.

What is involved?
Students get the chance to explore and compare college, university and apprenticeship routes into STEM careers. The experience will include a day in a college, a day at a university and a day at a STEM company local to them exploring STEM careers including interactive workshops, university labs and hearing from young professionals about different journeys into STEM.

What are the outcomes?

• Experience real world application of STEM subjects with hands on activities in a college, university and industrial environment 

• Get exposed to STEM Careers to enable students to make informed decisions about their future 

• Speak with and feel inspired by apprentices/graduates about their experiences 

• Go on campus tours, learn about student life and get thinking about future studies in a mature and informed manner 

• Develop valuable skills such as presentation skills, team-building and social skills and see how they can be applied to your CV, Application Form and/or Personal Statement. 

• Gain understanding of all available routes into a STEM career 

• Become a Bronze Industrial Cadet
