The Year in Industry has an exciting opportunity for a graduate student with a degree in chemistry, materials science or relevant scientific discipline. Every day, millions of people rely on products or applications which contain their thermoplastic polymers (plastics), from smartphones, aeroplanes and cars to oil & gas platforms and medical devices. The Technical Services Engineer will be the first point of contact for remote customers to resolve a wide range of technical issues under time constraints, across all strategic markets and proactively develop account relationships.

The role & you

Reporting to the Technical Service Manager, the Technical Service Engineer will be the first point of contact for remote customers to resolve a wide range of technical issues under time constraints, across all strategic markets and proactively develop account relationships.

You will manage a variety of activities including addressing customer concerns, technical qualification of leads and identifying project opportunities based on customer and market needs, translating these needs into product and application development opportunities.

To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, candidates will ideally be educated to Degree level or higher in a relevant subject, such as engineering or materials science or relevant scientific discipline or equivalent experience. Ideally candidates will have a recognised plastics processing qualification.

Working as part of the European Technical Service team, you will need

  • Excellent communication skills along with the ability to develop positive relationships
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills along with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet multiple deadlines are key to being successful in this role.
  • Strong analytical skills and a strategic focus along with the ability to influence stakeholders are also a requirement.
  • Candidates must be fluent in German and English 

A recognised plastics processing qualification is desirable.
