The company are seeking 2 bright enthusiastic students to support the Smart Metering and Engineering Services teams. Disciplines covered will be Engineering/Technology/Project Management. The successful candidates will be working with an international energy company that owns and operates electricity transmission and distribution networks in Southern Scotland, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales. With around 3.3m customers, it operates in a government regulated environment with targets set by the UK regulator Ofgem. The company have supported Year in Industry students for many years with great success stories. These placements are open to both pre-university and undergraduates and will commence August/September 2018 for 1 full year.


Pre-universities - planning to study engineering or business as a future career
Undergraduates - Electrical/Mechanical/Aero/Business degree students

Key Accountabilities

Work with our Smart Metering or Engineering Services team to provide support in delivering projects & process improvement projects across our Organisation including mapping business processes, project planning & reporting, requirements definition, assessing impact of the change on people and supporting communications.


Activities and Responsibilities

  • Project planning

  • Co-ordination / updating of activities or actions
  • Oversee onsite engineering experience

Critical Factors

Should have a reasonable business acumen awareness/knowledge and good knowledge of MS Office and in particular excellent Excel skills.



Ideally, the person would have had a part-time job previously to demonstrate business practices and awareness
