What do the students think?
Go4SET
Little Ilford School, London won the prize for teamwork at the London Go4SET Celebration and Assessment Day. Sehrish Shabbir from the winning team says:
"When I was first presented with the challenge I was speechless because I thought that it would be a task for professional engineers. On the other hand I was excited because it was going to be a fun experience. We had to work hard, but it was definitely worth it. It made me enthusiastic as I became more confident and positive. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am proud to have been part of it"
Engineering Education Scheme (England)
"As well as gaining confidence from the presentation and public speaking aspects of the Engineering Education Scheme (England), I was able to transfer the skills I developed during the experience to my A levels and engineering degree course at Aston University"
Robin Sharphouse
(former EESE student)
Headstart
"Thank you for giving me the wonderful opportunity of participating in the Headstart scheme... I gained an insight into engineering at degree-level; this experience encouraged me to pursue engineering as a career-option and also to apply to University. Many fellow students I met on these two courses have decided to study engineering at University and this decision has been confirmed by a Headstart course."
Adeline Drabble
The Year in Industry
Helen Dawson spent her gap year working for Goodrich Engine Control Systems. She is now studying Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College, London.
"The Year in Industry gave me the opportunity to experience the working world, which has made me a lot more focused as a student. It sounds a bit clichéd but in short The Year in Industry scheme was the best thing I could have done for my year out and I don't regret any part of it"
