2012 CttB Awards: Showcasing the UK’s future talent
Every year the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) places gap year students from all over the UK in highly competitive paid work placements through the Year in Industry (YINI) scheme and each year it is with great anticipation that we look forward to the regional and national Contribution to the Business Awards (CttB) celebrations.

YINI students often make a significant and positive difference to their placement companies and this is an opportunity for the best and brightest to share their accomplishments with a panel of judges drawn from the industry as well as presenting their projects to all attendees at stands set up to highlight their contribution. A finalist is drawn from each of the EDT’s regions who then goes on to compete at the national CttB held annually in London. This prestigious event is attended by representatives from Industry as well as YINI Alumni providing ample networking opportunity for the young engineers and the perfect setting in which to illustrate their value to the future of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) sector.
This year’s events kicked off with the South East and Midlands CttBs both on the 26th of June and hosted at Arup and the University of Birmingham respectively. The South West and North East events came next on the 4th of July at the University of the West of England and EEF Gateshead. They were followed by the Scotland and North West finals on the 5th at the University of Strathclyde and Shell global Solutions in Chester. The national finals will be held on the 18th of September at the BT Auditorium in London with guest speakers Terry Scouler, CEO of EFF- The Manufacturers' Organisation and Stephanie McGovern, BBC News Business Presenter.

If would like to attend any of these events as a company representative or as YINI Alumni please do contact your local EDT office details of which can be found on our website at http://www.etrust.org.uk/contact_us.cfm
