The Headstart Life Sciences course at Warwick will give you the opportunity to explore the different biological disciplines taught within the School of Life Sciences.  You’ll experience a range of lectures and hands-on challenges that will provide a flavour of the academic side of undergraduate life.

What will I be doing?

Topics likely to be included:
• Physiology: Discover how fast nerves signal in your body, test your reactions, see how to measure your breathing and heart-rate.  Learn what things can go wrong during illnesses.

• Microbiology: Learn how to handle bacteria safely, tell your gram-negatives from your gram-positives and the good guys from the bad guys!  

• Cell Biology: See inside cells using some of the world’s most powerful microscopes using electron beams and lasers

• Molecular Biology, Genetics and Synthetic Biology: Understand how these disciplines are shaping the future of medicine and industry.

Would this course suit me?

If you would like a challenging and intensive Headstart course looking at a range of biological disciplines then this is for you.  You will sample collegiate life at a prestigious university and interact with academics at the top of their research fields.

What do I need to be suitable?

If you are enjoying biology at A-Level why not explore what it is like as a degree subject.  If you are interested in any of the following subjects then this course is for you:
