Local schools take part in First Edition days

A First Edition day was held at the University of Surrey on the 9th December and at Cheltenham Ladies College on the 10th December where over 130 pupils took part. Local schools were invited to enter teams of students to participate in a hands on activity day where they were given the opportunity to put STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) into practice by designing, building and testing model structures.

Cheltenham Ladies College Physics teacher Ro Kaye who helped arrange the event on the 10th December said 'This was a wonderful opportunity for students from both indepent and state schools to work together to provide a fun hands-on programme'

First Edition is part of EDT's Widening Participation programme which is designed to address under-representation within STEM career pathways, with a current focus on pupils who will be 'first in family' to consider higher education and courses and careers in STEM.
