EDT at the Big Bang Fair 2009

The Big Bang is the UK’s first national fair celebrating young people’s achievements in science and engineering. It will take place from the 4th to 6th March 2009, just prior to National Science and Engineering Week, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster, London.

EDT have teamed up with Imagineering to run a hands-on hydraulics workshop at the fair. Hydraulics for frolics is a team challenge - students will be asked to build their own hydraulic controlled arm and gripper with an exciting competition at the end of the session.

Hydraulics for frolics is taking place on Wednesday 4th March at 12.15, 13.45 and 15.05. Schools can find out more and register for the workshop on The Big Bang Fair website www.thebigbangfair.co.uk

Congratulations to the following Go4SET and Engineering Education Scheme teams who are attending the fair and competing in the National CREST competition and the National Science Competition.

Go4SET teams: Broxburn Academy (West Lothian) and Rainham School for Girls (Kent)

Engineering Education Scheme teams/entries: Helenswood School (East Sussex), Burnside Business & Enterprise College (Tyne & Wear), Rugby High School for Girls (Warwickshire), Highcliffe School (Dorset), Sir John Lawes School (Hertfordshire), Pershore High School (Worcestershire), Wymondham High School (Norfolk), St Patrick’s Academy (Lanarkshire) and Torquay Girls’ Grammar School (Devon).

Over three days, nearly nine thousand young people; teachers; representatives from science and engineering organizations and employers; government ministers; members of parliament; and peers will witness the UK’s biggest and boldest celebration of UK science and engineering. See you there!
