All of the 2016 Inspire courses are now full and we are no longer accepting applications. We were very heavily oversubscribed and could not offer a place to all of the students who applied. Thank you for your interest in Inspire.
Please note: UCL is not running this year due to building work.
Are you a Year 11 / S4 girl who wants to learn new skills and get ahead in the sixth form – and beyond? If you love science, technology, engineering and maths check out our Inspire courses for 2016.
When and where are these courses being run?
Non Residential courses
(please read important information below)
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT NON-RESIDENTIAL COURSES
It sounds obvious, but if you are applying for a non-residential course, you must make sure that you can actually get there each day! If you don't know exactly where the universities are or whether you can make arrangements to get there, please check with your parents who should help you to consider this before you apply.
Because non-residential courses are intended for students who live close to that university, we suggest that you should live no further than a 1 hour journey away. If you decide to attend a non-residential course which is away from where you live, (for example you might apply for a course near your grandparents), please add a note to your personal statement explaining why you are choosing a course away from where you live and explain why you are applying for it. We reserve the right to check with you what accommodation/travel arrangements are in place for you prior to accepting you onto a non-residential course, to make sure that you are kept safe.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT RESIDENTIAL COURSES
All residential courses will start in the morning of the first day so you need to make sure you arrive on time. If you apply for courses not local to your home you may need to arrange overnight accommodation near the course. You will need an adult to accompany you on this night so do plan this into your travel arrangements when applying for courses.
Information you'll need to hand before you apply:
Before you start your application, we'd like you to give us information about your school and a teacher who would support your application. This could be your maths or science teacher, or your form tutor. Please have the information to hand so you are ready to enter it onto this on-line application. We need the details because if your application is successful we will email your teacher and let them know that you have been awarded a place. You may be able to find your school and teacher's details on your school's website, or you will need to ask your teacher to give you the information so you can type it in here.
• Your teacher's name (any of you STEM subject teachers)
• The name of your school
• The phone number of the school
• Your teacher's email address (please make sure that you check all spellings)
You will need to organise and pay for your own travel arrangements to get to the course.
Can my friend apply too?
Yes, Inspire courses are very inclusive and we'd love you to bring a bring a friend, so do encourage them to apply too. Please make a note your friends name in your personal statement.
What happens next?
Once we receive your Online Application you will be considered and we will let you know by March/April 2016 if you have been successful. A formal offer will be issued by email along with a request for payment. Just before the course, we will send you joining instructions.
