The EDT
Who are the EDT?
We’re an independent registered charity, established in 1984, running schemes to inspire and motivate young people to choose a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Recent Developments
We have recently merged with The Industrial Trust (www.industrialtrust.org.uk) to create the largest provider of STEM enrichment activities for UK youth. Industrial Trust is operating as a division of EDT and together we will provide schools with a greatly enhanced opportunity to link STEM learning with enterprise and real life exposure to industry and business.
Where are we?
We run schemes nationwide and in our first year of operation together we will reach nearly 30,000 students across the UK - our regional contacts can be found on the contact us page
Our schemes
We now run the following nationwide; Industrial Trust Programmes, First Edition, Go4SET, Engineering Education Scheme (England & Scotland), Headstart and The Year in Industry. Our schemes target 11-21 year olds and aim to provide a real life exposure to industry, business and higher education. We want to help students make informed choices at key stages in their education.
Go4SET – Environmentally themed 10 week science, technology, engineering and mathematics projects for Year 8/9 & S2 (12-14yr old) pupils.
Engineering Education Scheme (England and Scotland) – Real life 6 month science, engineering and technology projects for Year 12/S5 (16-17yr old) students.
Headstart – Science, engineering and technology experience courses at university for Year 12 & S5 (16-17yr old) students.
The Year in Industry – Career development work placements for Pre-University and Undergraduate students.
First Edition – One-day science, technology, engineering and mathematics events for Year 7–10, with the current focus on pupils who will be ‘first in family’ to consider higher education.
Industrial Trust Programmes – Curriculum focussed in company educational experiences for students of all ages.
