About EDT - Facts and Figures

Two mechanical engineers at workAs we involve around 6000 students in our schemes each year we are keen to know how we are making an impact. Read on to find out some key facts and figures for each of our main schemes.

Go4SET

  • 250 pupils took part in the Go4SET pilot (55% females, 26% ethnic minorities)
  • 75% of the year 9/S2 pupils who took part in the Go4SET pilot said they would be more likely to study science, maths and technology subjects at school as a result of their Go4SET experience (24% felt the same)
  • Teachers and company mentors involved with Go4SET found the scheme to be relevant to their school and company and also education and industry in general
  • 98% of pupils would recommend the scheme to other pupils in their school

  • EESE has involved over 17,000 students since the scheme began in 1984
  • 89% of students go on to read engineering or associated science/IT/technical degrees
  • 98% of teachers considered the scheme relevant to education’s needs
  • 97% of participating engineers considered the scheme to be relevant to their company’s needs

Headstart

  • 2000 students from 13 to 17 years (48% females, 19 ethnic minorities) attend 31 Headstart courses throughout Great Britain
  • Headstart has involved around 18,500 students since the scheme began in 1984
  • 63% of Headstart students tracked through university are reading MEng courses
  • Headstart is particularly useful for students interested in mathematics and/or science

YINI

  • 600 students and over 250 companies take part annually
