This course at Aston University is designed to give students a flavour of studying computer science at University, exploring a range of challenging and exciting topics with real-world applications.  It will introduce the principles by which computer systems are designed and developed, and will give students a hands-on opportunity to develop software as a team.

What’s it all about?

Students will stay onsite and get a real impression of what life is like at a small, friendly campus University.  Experienced undergraduate and postgraduate students will assist with labs and offer more subject-specific insights as well as pass on their experience and advice of higher education.

What will I be doing?

You will be working as part of a team to design and develop an online game.  At the end of the course you will have the opportunity to pitch your project to and invited audience and to a Dragon’s Den panel of academics.  During the course you will be encouraged to develop both your soft and technical skills, all of which are important for computer science professionals, and will have an opportunity to hear from researchers on a range of computer science topics as well as people working in the IT industry.
