Broad Based Engineering in Northern Ireland

Broad Based Engineering in Northern Ireland

Queen's University

Try out Engineering in a location which exudes Engineering achievement

This programme will look at the iconic Titantic Quarter of Belfast – once the location for Shipbuilding, where the famous Titanic was constructed but now an area where some of the largest organisations such as Harland and Wolff and Bombarder are based. The programme will look at how different disciplines of Engineering have used the space at the Titanic Quarter whilst, giving you the opportunity to meet industry and academic leaders whilst we ask you to tell us what next for Belfast, Engineering and the Titanic Quarter.

What’s it all about?

Queen’s University, Belfast is a modern campus university 20minutes walk from the heart of Belfast and only an hour’s flight from all major airports in England, Scotland and Wales and usually cheaper than a train ticket. You will take part in lectures and practical activities working with academics, industry leaders and students. You will stay in our newly refurbished halls of residence, Elms Village and have the opportunity to find out why more and more British students make the move to Belfast to study.

What will I be doing?

You will spend the first day soaking up the Titanic Quarter, meeting industry leaders including those who span: Civil, Mechanical and Aerospace, Electrical and Electronic and Software Engineering,  who are now based in this area of Belfast. You will then take back what you have discovered, and gain half day sessions in each of our Engineering disciplines working with academics, and our students to come up with a plan of what will the next big thing be in Engineering for Belfast.

You will also get to experience the social side of university, and have the opportunity to use our award winning Student Union, our £20million refurbished sports centre and explore one of the top tourist destinations in Europe.
